COVENANT BAPTIST
FELLOWSHIP
For many years the leaders of Grace Baptist Church have had a vision to
extend Christ's kingdom in fulfillment of the Great Commission by planting a
new church somewhere in the west shore region of Central Pennsylvania.
This desire is now, by God's grace, becoming a reality. We plan on
having evening worship services beginning August 7th.

2. What is a Reformed Baptist
Church?
A Reformed Baptist church follows the historical teachings of the Protestant
Reformation, including the five "solas":
1) Sola scriptura ("by Scripture alone") - the Bible is our only authority
for faith
and practice
2) Sola fide ("by faith alone") - we are justified (declared just by God) by
faith
alone without any mixture of our good
deeds
3) Sola gratia ("by grace alone") - salvation is a free gift of God's grace
(unmerited favor) and is in no way
earned.
4) Solus Christus ("Christ alone") - Jesus Christ is the only Savior and
Lord,
and the only way to get to God
5) Soli Deo gloria ("glory to God alone") - all the glory goes to God for
our
salvation since it is His sovereign
will and action that brought it to pass
The practical result
of these beliefs is that we take the Bible seriously. We believe that
preaching is central to worship and the life of the church. Our worship is
reverent and joyful. We seek to apply the truths of God's Word to our daily
lives. We diligently seek to proclaim the gospel to others, and we try to do
good to all people, especially those of the household of faith.
3. What do we believe?
■
There is one God, eternally existing in three persons, who created all
things
and upholds all things by His perfect will.
■ Man is thoroughly sinful
and in need of salvation through a personal redeemer,
the Lord Jesus Christ.
■ Salvation is by grace
alone through faith in Christ’s finished work on the cross
to atone for man’s sins.
■ Christ is Lord over all of
the Christian’s life, so that the duty of each Christian
is to live for God’s glory, submitting to
His will as it is revealed in the Scriptures.
■ The blessed hope of every
Christian is the personal, visible, and bodily return
of the Lord Jesus Christ. This hope has a
purifying effect on the life and
conduct of true believers. |
